How to use CSV to JSON

  1. Paste your CSV into the left box, or click Open file to load a .csv or .tsv.

Frequently asked questions

How are commas inside a field handled?

Fields wrapped in double quotes may contain commas, line breaks and doubled quotes (""), exactly as the CSV standard (RFC 4180) describes. For example "Portland, OR" stays one value.

What JSON structure do I get?

With a header row you get an array of objects, one per row, keyed by the column names. Without a header row you get an array of arrays.

Why are some of my numbers still strings?

Values with leading zeros, such as 007 or a ZIP code like 02134, are kept as text on purpose so no information is lost. Untick Detect numbers to keep everything as strings.

Is there a size limit?

No fixed limit. Files with hundreds of thousands of rows convert in your browser; very large files are limited only by your device’s memory.
