Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my image get?
Photos saved as JPG or WebP typically shrink by 50–90% at quality 70–80 with no visible difference. PNG screenshots compress less because PNG is lossless; converting them to WebP usually gives the biggest saving.
Does compressing reduce image quality?
JPG and WebP are lossy formats, so some detail is discarded, but at quality 70 or above it is rarely noticeable. You control the slider and can compare the before and after sizes before downloading.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Images are compressed by your browser using the canvas API. They never leave your device, so private photos stay private.
Can I compress many images at once?
Yes. Drop as many images as you like; each one is compressed and listed with its new size. Download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.
