Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Lossless and Strong compression?
Lossless rewrites the PDF with compressed object streams and removes unused data; text stays selectable and quality is unchanged, but savings are modest. Strong re-renders each page as an optimized JPEG image at a lower resolution, which can shrink scanned or image-heavy PDFs dramatically, but text is no longer selectable.
Why did my PDF not get smaller?
Some PDFs are already well optimized, so Lossless mode has little to remove. Try Strong mode for a larger reduction, especially for scanned documents or files full of photos.
Is my document uploaded?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Your PDF never leaves your device.
Can I compress a password-protected PDF?
Encrypted PDFs must be unlocked first. Remove the password in your PDF viewer and try again.
