Frequently asked questions
Hyphens or underscores in URLs?
Use hyphens. Google treats a hyphen as a word separator but an underscore as a joiner, so red-shoes is read as two words while red_shoes is one.
How long should a slug be?
Shorter is better: three to five meaningful words is ideal. Removing stop words like “the” and “of” keeps slugs tight without losing meaning.
What happens to accents and special characters?
Accented letters are converted to their plain equivalents (é → e), ligatures are expanded (æ → ae) and symbols such as & become words or are dropped, so the slug contains only letters, digits and separators.
Can I generate slugs for a whole list?
Yes. Paste one title per line and you get one slug per line, in the same order.
